Mobius's body is almost done

Running for speed I won't be adding the rear wing that came with this DeltaPlastiks body. Instead, as to not add more drag, i used the wing mount posts to create wingletts for lateral stability. All that's left is to grind down the front.

Well there it is

New 2mm DeltaPlastiks body for Mobius.

Mobius and the Truggy get a tan

Threw a can of smoke tint from Tamiya on Mobius's new suit and the Truggies original dress. Basic but I'm about function not style 😉

Weighting the front end

Rather than using lead weights for the front end, I found some extra Stainless Steel door pulls in the basement. Nice, heavy and sturdy these guys are helping to keep her front end planted. I love it when weird stuff works! 😉

Kakes new shoes

Kakes new GRPs came in yesterday and I was able to balance them this morning. Looking forward to seeing what these slicks can do on asphalt.

Expected this week

It's April and for the 2nd year in a row I've gone crazy with R/C gear.
By the end of the week I should have:

-New GRP slicks and treads
-An action cam for onboard videos
-Castle connectors for batteries and esc's
-A mabma XL2 for Mobius
-6 channel receivers for Kake and Truggy
-Ceramic bearings for Kake
-Motor fans for Kake and Truggy

Monday I was asleep when the post officee tried to deliver cvd's for the truggy and mobius....grrr

The R/C SpeedRun Lab Pics

A few pics from what I did after my midnight shift Monday morning. Note, do not pick up bullet connectors right after soldering them, and don't use cheap tire glue 😉

Kake is back on the road

Here is the link to Kakes triumphant return to the speedruns game. 83 mph on a 4cell and geared low...next stop 100+

https://youtu.be/D-ZEik4O51U

Lost a front hub screw at the end, but other than that she's running great. Next will be some gearing changes, a little weight up front and some stickier tires...ahh the thrill of the tripple digit chase is back!!!

New truggy layout

Rearranged the electronics to try to stop the receiver interference...it didn't work. Not sure why but the Truggy cogs and stutters both the motor and servo. Grrr

Truggy layout

Here is the initial layout after removing the power system from Kake.

Leopard Hobby Motor 4092 1300kv, Savox high torque servo, Tactic reciever, RC Hornet capacitor pack, Castle Creations Mamba Monster 2 esc, and a hardcase 3 cell lipo battery from Turnigy.

Problems:
The reciever is picking up some major interference so I will have to relocate it away from the motor.
The front drivetrain and steering needs to be shimmed up (front right wheel has a nasty wobble).

OFNA SSTe Kit quick build

Yesterday I received my first Truggy and cannibalized Kake to get it moving. Tactic radio, Savox high torque waterproof servo, Leopard 4092 1300kv motor, RC Hornet Capacitor Pack and a Mamba Monster 2 ESC.

Kake and Mobius

Here they are side by side, Kake on the left and her brother Mobius on the right.

Mobius is an OFNA GT X3e. It looks empty, but this is referred to as a rolling chassis, or "roller". The vehicle came ~80% built, but there were no electronics included. This is the same condition that the OFNA SSTe truggy will be in when I get her later this week.

Hopefully I will be out tomorrow morning with Mobius to dial in the steering and gearing. With any luck I'll get some footage of some decent runs.

This is what he look like at fighting weight before his initial run that ended in a curb.

The body is now really tore up in the rear, but it should hold together for a while.

Welcome, uhh...what the hell am I doing?

Okay, so I've purchased a domain and hope to catalog my hobby of R/C speed runs. I have no idea how this will workout, but hopefully I can provide a respository of links to help anyone that simply wants to make their R/C vehicle faster. Ummm, I think thats it...I don't know...welcome to The R/C SPEEDRUN LAB.
